Timaru Botanic Garden has an impressive variety of plants and flowers, an aviary, duck pond and playground. Located on 19 hectares of land in south Timaru - and dates back to 1864, when the site was first set aside as a public reserve. In 2014, the garden was recognised as a Garden of National Significance by the New Zealand Gardens Trust.

Timaru District has wonderful environment, and rich heritage and culture to explore. There is so much, it's hard sometimes to know where to start. You can pop into the South Canterbury Museum and Timaru Visitor Center to pick up your free scavenger hunts and hand outs. Check out the website for heaps of fun options.

Housed in the historic former Temuka Courthouse. This Museum is home to over 6,000 items recording the history of Temuka, from farming, to industry, family history and social history. NOTE: The Temuka Museum is currently closed for earthquake strengthening.

Round up the whole family for a day of competitive fun at one of the district's mini golf courses.

Jump, spin and flip at Jumpin Timaru. Great for groups and all ages.
