Top-notch brunch spots in Timaru District
Arthur Street Kitchen
Another great spot for brunch is Arthur Street Kitchen.
The waffles are a great way to start the day – as is their occasional breakfast bacon, egg and hash brown panini on homemade sourdough. Yum.
Where: 8 Arthur Street, Timaru City
The Oxford Restaurant, Bar and Brasserie
If you love eggs, the Oxford is your brunch spot of choice.
Here they serve them anyway – with bacon, sausage and black pudding. There’s eggs benedict, eggs Montreal and eggs Florentine.
Weekend brunch is served from 9.30am to 3pm – so you can take your time.
Where: Cnr Stafford & George Streets, Timaru City
The Shearer’s Quarters
A little further out of town in Seadown is a rustic cafe called The Shearer’s Quarters.
Brunch is served until 11am and includes fluffy pancakes and a big brunch dish known as the Shearer’s Breakfast (bacon, sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms, hash browns, eggs and toast).
With plenty of farm animals and outdoor activities galore, it's a great place for kids.
Where: 932 Seadown Road, Temuka
The Running Duck
Head to the Running Duck for their extensive breakfast/brunch menu before midday. Their eggs bene is epic, or go the whole hog with their 'Morning Glory'.
Decorated to resemble a laid back kiwi 'bach', the vibe is everything to the Duck crew, and quite frankly, they've nailed it.
