Explore Timaru's fascinating history, art scene and walking tracks in a whole new way.

From scenic coastal tracks with ship wrecks and ancient lava, to discovering our inner city heritage and public art and uncovering the tales of the Timaru cemetery.

The trails so far:

Caroline Bay

Explore Caroline Bay and the Trevor Griffiths Rose Garden.  Wander the boardwalk with art history signs and visit the nesting place of our little penguins.

Dashing Rocks Coastal walk

Start at Caroline Bay and follow the cliffs past ancient lava flows, an historic lighthouse, the site of early shipwrecks and important Māori mahinga kai sites.

Timaru CBD

Learn about our street art and heritage buildings.

Cemetery Tales

Explore Timaru's Cemetery - and the stories behind some of the fascinating people buried there.

Tuhawaiki (Jack's) Point coastal walk

A 5km coastal walk, with an historic lighthouse, that's also bike and dog friendly.

Centennial Park

Timaru's main mountain biking area, there are loads of shared use tracks, it's dog friendly and a great place to meet up and picnic.
